Joel Dewberry's much anticipated new line, Deer Valley, is coming soon! Yay! Have you seen the fabrics? They're amazing! If you haven't, check out Joel's site for the full line-up. Even his description of the line is enticing:

"Welcome to Deer Valley. A peaceful and beautiful collection of rustic prints inspired by mountain meadows and the occasional passing deer. Columbines, wildflowers, and mountain gems all help usher in an early spring."

With 45 prints and 3 color palettes (Azure, Persimmon and Tarragon), there's something for everyone. In addition to the fabulous palette names, other fabric colors include Grass, Sky, Terra Cotta, Celadon, Barnwood, Goldenrod and Peony. Here's a peak at some of the prints:

...in the shop now...pink fig patterns

I discovered Pink Fig Patterns after a customer shared with me a project she was working on. She had a customer bring her the Girly Skirt pattern and asked that the finished product look exactly like the picture on the pattern. I looked up the pattern to determine which fabrics were needed (the now discontinued Joel Dewberry Aviary line) and within an hour had emailed the designer, Chelsea Andersen, asking for an order form. These patterns are fresh, fun and creative! Pattern sizes range from 6 months to 10 years. There are several patterns in the shop now that are perfect for summer! I'll start with my favorite...

The Olivia Top

The Mish Mash Skirt

The Natty Jacket & Vest

Did you find a pattern you love? There are some great fabrics in the shop that would pair well with these patterns - Anna Maria Horner, Heather Bailey, Amy Butler, etc. Head to the shop now...all patterns ship free with any fabric purchase!

...in the shop now...joel dewberry rose

I love this sweet little print...a repeating pattern of tiny little baby pink roses. Rose (in Green) is part of Joel Dewberry's Aviary Collection. It paired wonderfully with the Rose Damask and Sunburst fabrics I had, but those sold out rather quickly and now Rose is sitting lonely in the shop. In case you didn't know, Aviary has been discontinued and the fabrics I sold out of are no longer available for re-order. So Rose is biding her time until someone comes along and falls in love with her...or at least recognizes how perfect she would be for any number of baby projects. This fabric would make such a cute lightweight blanket or a sweet little dress.

What do you think? Isn't it just so cute? Stay tuned for more features on out of print Joel Dewberry fabrics!

...in the shop now...patricia bravo color splash

Ok, I have to say that Patricia Bravo of Art Gallery Fabrics is one of my favorite designers. I only recently discovered her fabrics and I love them. She has such amazing talent and if you haven't checked out any of her fabrics, you should. I love her philosophy about enticing a new generation of quilters and sewers with fresh, fun, modern designs. Her passion for what she does really comes through in her fabrics. If you were to look through all her fabric collections, you would see why I think she has such amazing creativity! And if you check out her blog, you'll see she has a lot of fun energy to share with her readers.

The Color Splash line features bright colors...turquoise, lime green, orange, purple, yellow...and fun designs...trees, flowers, circles, swirls. Take a look at the cleverly named Kiwi Fruit Harvest...if you like bold colors, this is the fabric for you!

Here are the other Color Splash fabrics I'm currently carrying in the shop:

Aqua Foliage Cascade

Creamy Stem Echoes

Teal Daisy Fusion

If you aren't familiar with Patricia Bravo, or you've just never taken the time to explore her collections, I recommend you do. I'll be doing another "in the shop now" post soon to show off some of her other fabrics. Hope you love the fabrics...I think Teal Daisy Fusion is my fave - how about you?

...in the shop now...Flourish by StudioE

I stumbled across StudioE Fabrics a couple months ago and a couple of their lines immediately caught my eye. I bought a few fabrics from each of the two lines to see how they would do in the shop. I'm pleased to say that the Flourish line has been well-received. So well, in fact, that I placed another order for the brown colorway. I love this line because all of the fabrics are truly interchangeable. Bold, funky colors and designs make this a really fun line...and it's perfect for those of you who don't necessarily love the pastel blues, pinks and greens. Here's a peek at what's in the shop.

Stay tuned...the brown colorway will be arriving soon!

...have to have...tula pink hushabye

Have you seen the new Tula Pink quilt pattern? I just have to have this quilt. Go to her site and after you see the picture of the finished product, you'll know why. I love Tula's new fabric line, Hushabye, and the sky and grass and chocolate colorways are so perfect for my house. I have to have this quilt. I've always wanted to make a quilt, but remember how I said I'm a beginning sewer? Well, making a quilt seems like a nearly impossible feat. Quilters, is it as hard as it seems? Could I really just jump into a quilt project like this? Maybe? If I had help?

Ok, the pattern is due out this month and the fabric is due out in August. I've made it a personal goal to get all things Tula Pink in my shop so stay tuned for updates about when to expect her fabulous patterns and fabrics!

Have I mentioned I have to have that quilt? Sigh.

...in the shop now...amy butler pressed flowers

Now ready for purchase in the shop is Amy Butler's Pressed Flowers in Rose from her Daisy Chain Collection. Another great fabric from this collection that's perfect for spring and summer dresses and skirts. And can't you just picture this fabric used for a baby girl blanket? Make it reversible using a coordinating Daisy Chain fabric or use flannel for a cozy side. What would you do with Pressed Flowers?

...back in stock...amy butler sweet jasmine

It's back in stock and ready for purchase! I can't believe how quickly I sold out of this fabric. I think the whole bolt was gone in about 3 transactions! Funny how the one I thought wouldn't sell quite as well was my best seller. Hmmm, maybe I should rethink my purchasing strategies :) Anyway, there's some fresh sweet jasmine just waiting for you...

...in the shop now...anna maria horner

I love Anna Maria Horner's fabrics. I love the designs and especially the bright, bold colors. Her blog is great and if you haven't checked it out, you should. She writes in a way that brings you right into her world. And by the way, the fabric currently shown in her blog banner is available in my shop. It's called Small Gathering from her Good Folks collection. Here's a picture:

Also available in the shop is Filigree in Plum:

and Cathedral in Peony:

So I ordered these fabrics kind of as a test. I love AMH fabrics and I know other people do too, but I haven't noticed quite the same demand for it as other designers. I wish AMH much success so I hope I'm wrong. So anyway, if you love her fabric, let me know. If there's enough demand, I'd love to carry the whole line.

Ok, so here are a few ideas I have for these fabrics...I like Cathedral for a beach bag, a wallet or a fun skirt for your little girl. Filigree would also make for a cute skirt, but would make an adorable dress (think contrasting/coordinating fabrics at the waist and along the bottom of the skirt). And Small Gathering...not sure about that one...do you have any suggestions? Have you made anything with any of these fabrics? I welcome your comments, ideas, photos...

...jumping on the fabric blog bandwagon...

Yep, that's right...another blog about fabric. I know there's a ton of other, well-established blogs about fabric and sewing and quilting and crafting and...well, you get the picture. But after recently starting up a fabric shop on Etsy, I've found that the little guys (like me) quickly get overshadowed by the big guys, so this blog is a way for me to get the word out about all the great fabrics that make me say, "ooohhh, that's so fun!"

I'm a beginning sewer, so you won't get a lot of check-out-what-i'm-sewing-now kind of posts. Although, if I can ever learn to sew anything other than a straight line, I will be proclaiming it to anyone who will listen. What you will find here are posts about fabric...fabric that catches my eye, new collections that are on their way, and of course, fabric and patterns in my shop that are available for purchase. (Hey, I'm not going to hide that this blog is a marketing tool for me:) But one of the things that I'd really like to do is familiarize you with some of the little guys in the fabric design world. After all, I have a soft spot for the little guys :)

I welcome c
omments and would love to hear what you think about any and all of the fabrics I blog about.

Oh yeah, the marketing portion of this post...check out my store. I offer some of the big guys and of course, some of the little guys too. Below are a few samples to entice you...
